OAA per 1,000 innings explained
Exact-position Outs Above Average scaled to 1,000 matching defensive innings from the same retained season source. It is available as an interactive Leaderboards column where that evidence is installed.
Definition and interpretation
OAA/1,000 innings = the sum of exact-position OAA × 3,000 / the sum of matching exact-position outs for the identical measured-position set.
Positive values mean more outs above average per 1,000 innings at the listed measured positions. It is an opportunity-scaled descriptive result, not a forecast or position-independent skill estimate.
Coverage and limits
Available from 2016 where every published OAA position has a positive matching position-out denominator. Missing or duplicate position innings remain unavailable. Interactive comparisons retain the identical season and measured-position set; small samples are shown and marked limited rather than removed.
Positive matching exact-position outs; no minimum target workload.
Explore available values and percentiles in Leaderboards or in the exact-season Scouting Report. Missing evidence remains unavailable; small samples retain provisional ranks.
